The Pope County Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Benton Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pope County will be strutting in after a victory while Benton will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, Pope County was able to grind out a solid win over Cobden, taking the game 8-4. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Appleknockers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Bella Fasolo was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayleigh Coram, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Riley Presser, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Pope County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cobden only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Benton started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Carmi-White County. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Rangers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Jaycee Webb (2027) was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Webb (2025), who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Benton's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Pope County, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-5.
Pope County suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Benton in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Pope County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
