The New Glarus Glarner Knights will face off against the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Glarus will be strutting in after a win while Wisconsin Heights will be coming in after a defeat.
New Glarus took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lake Mills by a score of 10-6. That four run margin sets a new team best for the Glarner Knights this season.
Kamm Nehmer was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashlin Mihlbauer, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
New Glarus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Lodi hit Wisconsin Heights with a five-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vanguards fell 9-6 to the Blue Devils. The Vanguards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Reed Adler put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Quinn Payne was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Charles Reader also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
New Glarus' victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wisconsin Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Everything went New Glarus' way against Wisconsin Heights in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as New Glarus made off with a 15-2 victory. Will the Glarner Knights repeat their success, or do the Vanguards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
