Northampton has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the West Point Pointers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Northampton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over Phoebus.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northampton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ronyell Coston, who scored 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. The contest was Coston's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Quayshawn Washington was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday West Point sidestepped Colonial Beach for a 49-47 victory. The win was just what West Point needed coming off of a 83-24 defeat in their prior game.
Northampton pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for West Point, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Everything came up roses for Northampton against West Point in their previous meeting on Monday as the team secured a 83-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northampton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
