Cocoa Beach and Satellite are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will take on the Satellite Scorpions at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cocoa Beach's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Cocoa Beach gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 15-11.
Zoe Vella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Kaelin Goslin was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Natalia Soto also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Cocoa Beach hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Satellite gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Cocoa with a sharp 15-3 win. The Scorpions have beaten the Tigers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Mallory Hines looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Satellite got a massive performance out of Abigal Scaglione, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hailey Veon, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cocoa Beach's record is now 3-0-1. As for Satellite, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.
Cocoa Beach suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Satellite when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Cocoa Beach avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
