The Miller Cardinals entered their tilt with the Stockton Tigers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Miller strolled past Stockton with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 50-31. Given Miller's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Stockton is ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miller found their leader in underclassman Rachel Nunez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Nunez has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Loghann Leivan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Miller's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Stockton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Miller will head out on the road to take on Father Tolton at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Stockton, they will be playing at home against Ash Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ash Grove and Stockton are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
