The South Charlotte T Thunder won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Legion Collegiate Academy, falling 66-31. While losing is never fun, South Charlotte T can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 496th in North Carolina, while Legion Collegiate Academy is ranked 107th in South Carolina).
Despite the defeat, South Charlotte T saw an underclassman step up: Ryleigh Graves dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Graves continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Gidney, who scored five points.
Leading Legion Collegiate Academy to victory were Jaylen McMurray and Amelia Williams. McMurray almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. McMurray hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Garvin, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
South Charlotte T's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
South Charlotte T didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-20 loss vs. Legion Collegiate Academy on the 9th. Legion Collegiate Academy has also already played their next match, a 59-57 defeat against United Faith Christian Academy on the 8th.
