The Estero Wildcats were the 65-54 winner over the Riverdale Raiders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Estero fell 71-62 to Riverdale on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (57), Estero still had to take the loss.
Estero lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Knutson, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Knutson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lee Eckman, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Riverdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Konnor Vonhagen, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Vonhagen. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Ortiz, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Estero and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Riverdale, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
Estero will head out on the road to face off against Mariner at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mariner will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Riverdale will take on Ida Baker at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ida Baker is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
