Baseball Game Preview: New Site Royals vs. Wheeler Eagles

New Site is a perfect 10-0 against Wheeler since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The New Site Royals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wheeler Eagles at 11:00 a.m. New Site is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

New Site will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Pine Grove, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. New Site walked away with a 5-1 win over Pine Grove on Thursday. The game was the first time the Royals have beaten the Panthers on their field since March 13, 2018.

Landon Stanley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, New Site's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rilyn Lambert, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Lambert also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another was Colton Trimble, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Wheeler put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Jumpertown with a sharp 13-5 win. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Wheeler's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for New Site, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

New Site came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 13-11. Will New Site repeat their success, or does Wheeler have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
