Mackenna Savage and Lily Hagan were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Savage tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hagan struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Savage went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Hagan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI. That home run was Savage's first of the season.
In other batting news, Red Bank Catholic got a massive performance out of Jayden Kane, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Grace Lombardi, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Red Bank Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Morris Catholic made easy work of Madison on Monday and carried off a 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Sofia Reisinger was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Mead, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Red Bank Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Morris Catholic, their record now sits at 7-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Red Bank Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Morris Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Red Bank Catholic couldn't quite get it done against Morris Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Caseys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
