Payson's loss came despite strong showings from Clara Whaley and Hannah Sarnowski. Whaley scored seven points along with six rebounds, while Sarnowski scored two points along with three steals. Sarnowski hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Tuba City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubrey Begaye led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Eriana Begay, who scored 11 points along with seven steals.
Payson's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Tuba City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.
