Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Lincoln County's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Lincoln County was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wayne on Thursday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 6-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Arien Cooper, who gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Wayne off the board. Cooper has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lacy Harper was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Camdyn Mckinney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lincoln County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

As of now, neither Lincoln County nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
