The Paris Tigers will face off against the Newton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Newton will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Paris extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Tigers blew past Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine 15-2.
Kipton Bradford made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Bradford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Drew Kirby was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Sean Dunn was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and one double.
Paris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Newton came out on top against Marshall on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Lions.
Like Paris, Newton also got a great game from a two-way player: Carson Barthelme. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Barthelme was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 contests.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quincy Fulton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddox Horner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Newton's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Paris, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
