Hempfield will be up against a hot Susquehannock squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Warriors never let York Suburban get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.
Sofia Deffendall and Michelle Morris did most of the damage at the plate: Deffendall scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Morris scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Morris also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Macie Minton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Susquehannock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hempfield made easy work of Manheim Township on Wednesday and carried off a 10-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Black Knights in their matchups with the Blue Streaks: they've now won seven in a row.
Kali Peifer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Ernst, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lily Ashton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Susquehannock now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hempfield, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Susquehannock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327.
