Basketball Recap: Oxbridge Academy Takes a Loss

Oxbridge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the ThunderWolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-44 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Oxbridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leilani Benzing posted 27 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benzing has scored all season. Imani Von Wulffen was another key player, putting up four points and 12 boards.

It was another big night for Khloe Rodgers, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 28 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists for Somerset College Prep Academy. The match was Rodgers' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaysha Felix, who had eight points and 12 boards.

Oxbridge Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxbridge Academy has already played their next contest (against Royal Palm Beach), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Somerset College Prep Academy has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Jensen Beach.
