The Luling Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Natalia Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Luling's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Natalia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Luling will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Schulenburg on Saturday. Luling was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Schulenburg. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ahriyana Lopez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Lopez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Serenity Nunez was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season. Nedeyin Magallanez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Luling always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schulenburg only posted an OBP of .353.
Meanwhile, Natalia unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They and Marion finished up on equal footing with a 5-5 draw.
Natalia's tie gives them a new season record of 10-3-1. As for Luling, their record now sits at 7-4.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Luling has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .547. However, it's not like Natalia struggles in that department as they've averaged .543. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Luling came out on top in a nail-biter against Natalia in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Luling since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
