Basketball Recap: Collierville Skates Past Overton with Ease

Collierville had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 54-21 stomp they got against the Overton Wolverines. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Collierville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jekhyra Rodgers, who posted ten points. Rodgers has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ainsley Pilant, who earned seven points and five steals.

Collierville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Collierville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points per game. As for Overton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Collierville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 31-29 loss against Rockvale on the 30th. As for Overton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 37-35 victory against Houston on the 30th.
