Christian and Cathedral Catholic are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2024, but likely not for long. The Patriots will be playing at home against the Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Cathedral Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Scripps Ranch on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2.
Christian got a good showing from Ava Barrios, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Barrios gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in June of 2025.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cathedral Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Scripps Ranch 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dons have posted since March 28, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Nia Talataina, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Anna Schumacher was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Cathedral Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13-1 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cathedral Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
