Union Area has gone a perfect 3-0 against New Castle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Scotties will square off against the Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. Union Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.4 runs per game this season.
Union Area is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Chartiers-Houston just ended the team's 13-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Scotties couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mia Preuhs spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Olivia Williams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Castle, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ellwood City on Tuesday, sneaking past 8-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hurricanes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
New Castle also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Zoie Shields gave up six earned runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Olivia Hood was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gabby Mangieri, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
New Castle lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 6-3 when they post two or more home runs.
New Castle's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Union Area, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-2.
New Castle's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Union Area has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for New Castle, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Union Area keep running through batters, or will the Hurricanes buck the trend?
Union Area took their win against New Castle in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-12 score. Will the Scotties repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
