The Vanguard Knights posted their closest win yet this season on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Columbia 35-33. For Vanguard, this counts as revenge for the 75-52 loss Columbia walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vanguard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnardo Turner, who scored seven points along with six assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Powell, who scored nine points.
Vanguard's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Columbia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Vanguard will square off against Seabreeze at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Seabreeze is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Columbia, Columbia and Buchholz will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
