It was a good run, but the Moon Valley Rockets unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Thunderbird. Moon Valley has struggled against the Titans recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Moon Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damion Miller-Coleman, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Miller-Coleman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Kevin Gray was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Thunderbird got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Paris Strozier jr out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Will Clark, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Moon Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10. As for Thunderbird, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moon Valley will challenge the Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Shadow Mountain is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Thunderbird, they and the Criminals will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Yuma is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
