Las Lomas (Walnut Creek, Calif.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Shawn Hessler thew a touchdown to
Greg Corbin with with 2:00 left in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Alhambra (Martinez, Calif.) 45-23.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Hessler to Corbin in the second quarter, the Knights were up 24-15 at the half.
Las Lomas saw its 9-point halftime lead decrease to eight entering the fourth.
A 14-point fourth quarter was enough to cement the win for LL, as it pushed the final margin of victory to 22.
Hessler stood out for the Walnut Creek school in the win. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns.
The Knights also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 38-0.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Las Lomas, which was coming off a 31-17 defeat at the hands of Northgate in its previous game. The victory snapped Las Lomas' two-game losing streak.
Alhambra (1-3) will play a Diablo Foothill game against Dougherty Valley next week, while Las Lomas (3-2) will take on Acalanes also in a Diablo Foothill game.
