The Diamond Ranch Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Northview Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Diamond Ranch will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Northview is ranked 116th).
Diamond Ranch had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 34-20 to San Dimas. It was the first time this season that Diamond Ranch let down their fans at home.
Diamond Ranch's defeat came about despite a quality game from Keanu Vasquez, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Northview had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past Los Altos 48-13 at home. The result was nothing new for Northview, who have now won four contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Keanu Tauvao got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 128 yards on only 14 carries, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. Angel Barraza and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Northview's win.
Diamond Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Northview, their victory was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Diamond Ranch lost to Northview on the road by a decisive 35-20 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Diamond Ranch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
