Basketball Recap: Great Hearts Northern Oaks Takes a Loss

Great Hearts Northern Oaks was the 50-49 winner over Marion when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marion Bulldogs on Friday.

Defeat or not, Great Hearts Northern Oaks got some senior leadership from Michael Glowe and Caden Collins. Glowe posted 16 points along with eight boards and three blocks, while Collins put up 12 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Glowe's third in a row with at least ten points.

Leading Marion to victory were Braeden Fleming and Travis Randle. Fleming scored 17 points and six assists, while Randle dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Davian Lagunas, who had ten points.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks will welcome Cole at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Cole will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Great Hearts Northern Oaks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marion, they will head out on the road to square off against Young Men's Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Young Men's Leadership Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
