The Eau Gallie Commodores and the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Eau Gallie Commodores had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Greyhounds 70-34. While losing is never fun, Eau Gallie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Lincoln Park Academy is ranked 70th).
Alayna Lherisse and Avi Johnson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lherisse scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Johnson scored six points along with six rebounds. That was a full 38.2% of Eau Gallie's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Olivia Titherington was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with five steals for Lincoln Park Academy. Another player making a difference was Juliana Ball, who scored 21 points.
Eau Gallie's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Lincoln Park Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-2.
Eau Gallie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lincoln Park Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Suncoast at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Lincoln Park Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 414 points over their last six matches.
