Milton is 2-8 against Niceville since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Milton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against Gulf Breeze by a score of 7-2.
Chloe Norman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Alexis Hawthorne was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Destiny Dennis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Niceville entered their tilt with Mosley on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Dolphins a 10-0 shutout. Ten seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Chloe Bailey and Emma Sites made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bailey struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Sites pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bailey has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bailey went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Sites went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Niceville got a big performance out of Anabelle Shackelford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Shackelford a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Noles, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Niceville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Niceville pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Milton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.
