The Prout Crusaders will head out on the road to challenge the Cranston West Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cranston West will be up against a hot Prout squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Crusaders' way against Ponaganset on Sunday as they made off with a 16-6 win. The Crusaders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lily Sheehan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Sheehan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Prout got a massive performance out of Rachel Dias, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Dias a new career-high. Emma Sechio also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Prout was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponaganset only posted a batting average of .269.
Meanwhile, Cranston West faced Pilgrim in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 12-3 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Mia Crudale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Nicole Silvestri was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Payton Wells, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Prout pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.25 runs across that stretch. As for Cranston West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Both Prout and Cranston West just can't seem to miss. The Crusaders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Cranston West struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Prout skirted past Cranston West 3-2 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
