The Berean Baptist Academy Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-57 bruising from Northwood Temple Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Berean Baptist Academy still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Berean Baptist Academy saw an underclassman step up: Josiah Sanders scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Briceson Martin, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Northwood Temple Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenny Vera, who scored 19 points along with five assists. Vera hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Elijah Kindle was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Berean Baptist Academy's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Northwood Temple Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berean Baptist Academy will take on Wake County Academy HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Zai Black and Sanders. As for Northwood Temple Academy, they will be playing at home against Freedom Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Freedom Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
