Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Richland's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Richland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Saginaw on Saturday. The Richland Royals' pitcher stepped up to hand the Saginaw Rough Riders a 14-0 shutout. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 13 runs or more this season.

Stacy Jennings was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Maty Quick was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Sam Aguilar was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Richland is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. Saginaw is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Richland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Argyle on the 4th. As for Saginaw, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-0 defeat against Brock on the 5th.
