After flying high against the Berea Bulldogs last Tuesday, the Easley Green Wave came back down to earth. Easley was the victim of a rough 57-34 loss at the hands of the Rams on Friday. While losing is never fun, Easley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Rams are ranked 13th).
Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Proctor, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Kimbel Leach was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Westside found their leader in underclassman Asia Clinkscales, who scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiarra Gregory, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Easley's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Westside, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
Easley will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berea has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
