The Edgewood Warriors put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Jefferson Area by a score of 57-45. Given Edgewood's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Jefferson Area is ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Katie Mccollister was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with four steals. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Annie mae Johnston, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five assists.
Edgewood pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Jefferson Area, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewood will be home for the holidays to greet Pymatuning Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson Area will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harvey at 6:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
