In what's become a running theme this season, the Southern Academy Cougars gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 54-32 margin over Restoration Academy. Winning may never get old, but Southern Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Madeline Chapman was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Chapman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Sluder, who scored 14 points.
Southern Academy's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Restoration Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Southern Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Restoration Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Restoration Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Southern Academy is ranked 78th). Restoration Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southern Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Southern Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
