Grant Park hasn't had much luck against Beecher recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dragons will challenge the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Grant Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Grant Park is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since April 25, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of Peotone by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Cheyenne Hayes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Hayes wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reegan Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Beecher put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against St. Joseph-Ogden by a score of 10-5.
Taylor Norkus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. MaKenna Albert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Grant Park fell to 13-1. As for Beecher, their win bumped their record up to 17-0.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Grant Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Beecher struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grant Park might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Beecher in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
