The St. David's Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Hickory Grove Christian Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. David's will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
St. David's has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 25 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Arendell Parrott Academy with a sharp 50-25 victory on Friday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
It was another big night for Eliza Everett, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Benson, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after only 21 points in their last match, Hickory Grove Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Westminster Catawba Christian on Friday. Hickory Grove Christian blew past Westminster Catawba Christian 56-33. The win was a breath of fresh air for Hickory Grove Christian as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hickory Grove Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talena Frazier, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Frazier hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Feaster, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
St. David's pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Hickory Grove Christian, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: St. David's have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Hickory Grove Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 30.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
St. David's couldn't quite finish off Hickory Grove Christian when the teams last played back in February and fell 36-33. Thankfully for St. David's, Taylor Parker (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
