The Powers Catholic Chargers pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Davison. Powers Catholic lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 84-50 score last time.
Powers Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javontae Ross, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Ross is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Connor Kelly was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Powers Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Davison, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Midland the next time they take the court. Powers Catholic will head out to face the Chemics at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Cardinals will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
