The Winfield Warriors will square off against the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Monday, Winfield came up short against Warrenton and fell 54-43. It was the first time this season that Winfield let down their fans at home.
Meanwhile, North Callaway pushed their score all the way to 68 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Clopton 72-68. Even though they lost, North Callaway's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.9 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lakyn Hartley, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kymorie Myers, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Winfield's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4. As for North Callaway, they bumped their record down to 10-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Winfield won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, slipping by North Callaway 43-42. Does Winfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Callaway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
