On Saturday, Archie Williams beat Priory 63-50. Given Archie Williams' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Priory is ranked 681st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archie Williams to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Bugas, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Bugas pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brian Wright, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory got Archie Williams back to even at 7-7. As for Priory, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archie Williams and Marin Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Priory and Sequoia will face off at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
