The Jackson Aggies had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.9 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They managed a 48-44 victory over Escambia County. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Jackson has scored all season.
Jackson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keeyun Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Chapman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Micah Caster, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Escambia County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Arnold jr., who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Jackson pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Escambia County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
Jackson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Satsuma at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Satsuma has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12. As for Escambia County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against T.R. Miller at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
