Softball Recap: Fairfax Wins Going Away Against North

Fairfax won the last time they faced North and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Stampede put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 20-3 victory. Considering the Stampede have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Saiz was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reilley Bledsoe was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Olson, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Fairfax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Fairfax and bumps their season record up to 11-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for North, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11.

Coming up, Fairfax will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Central at 3:45 p.m. The Stampede are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for North, they have already played their next match, an 18-10 loss against North Canyon on the 10th.
