Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Northridge Grizzlies

Thompson Valley and Northridge are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Thompson Valley Eagles will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Northridge Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Thompson Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.

Thompson Valley will head into Tuesday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wellington on Tuesday. Thompson Valley took their contest with ease, bagging a 52-14 win over Wellington. Thompson Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 38 points or more this season.

Thompson Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mekayla Macias, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds. Those 21 points gave Macias a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Gibbs, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Northridge suffered their closest defeat since January 11th on Wednesday. They fell just short of Timnath by a score of 56-53.

Northridge now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Thompson Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.

Thompson Valley came up short against Northridge in their previous matchup back in January, falling 71-62. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northridge's Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds.
