Loraine can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game. They took down Blackwell 71-52. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
AJ Williams had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 73 yards and a touchdown. Xander Ybarra was another major influence, as he rushed for 50 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-6, which was the final score in Trent's tilt against Bronte on Friday. Trent has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Loraine's win bumped their season record to 1-7 while Trent's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Loraine against Trent when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 55-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loraine since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
