After three games on the road, San Marcos is heading back home. They will take on the Madison Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in San Marcos' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
Last Friday, San Marcos didn't have too much trouble with Mission Hills on the road as they won 62-48.
San Marcos' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Williams, who scored 20 points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Mazen El Bissat, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Madison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They were outmatched by Cathedral Catholic at home and fell 83-43. Madison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Eli Stevens, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allen Sola, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
San Marcos pushed their record up to 22-6 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Madison, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: San Marcos have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Madison struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
San Marcos strolled past Madison in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 69-53. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Madison's Jake Jackson, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for San Marcos to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
