The Episcopal Maroon are taking a road trip to challenge the Trinity Christian Gryphons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Episcopal is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Episcopal couldn't beat Bishop Ireton on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Maroon lost 12-6 to the Cardinals.
Truman Albright made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Moses Lopez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity Christian). They came out on top against Saint John Paul the Great Catholic by a score of 17-14 on Tuesday. The Gryphons have beaten the Wolves the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolves has come to flipping the script.
Isaac Norman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Trinity Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Norman was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Grady Frank was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Philip Long also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Trinity Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive contests.
The victory got Trinity Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Episcopal, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Episcopal came out on top in a nail-biter against Trinity Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroon since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
