Branchville and Allendale-Fairfax are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Branchville Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Allendale-Fairfax Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Branchville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 66-45 walloping at the hands of Bethune-Bowman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Branchville in their matchups with Bethune-Bowman: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Branchville saw an underclassman step up: Kyran Glover scored 16 points along with three steals. Glover hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Daniel Jennings was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Allendale-Fairfax's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Royal Live Oaks Academy.
Branchville's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Allendale-Fairfax, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Branchville came out on top in a nail-biter against Allendale-Fairfax when the teams last played on January 5th, sneaking past 46-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Branchville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
