The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins will face off against the Heritage Academy Heroes at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, everything went Glendale Prep Academy's way against Leading Edge Academy - GEC as Glendale Prep Academy made off with a 20-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Griffins.
Raegan Rockey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. In other batting news, Sophia Nakachi was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Karin DeStefano was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Heritage Academy put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand St. John Paul II Catholic an 18-0 shutout. Give the Heroes' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Like Glendale Prep Academy, Heritage Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Amaya LaDrigue. Throwing, LaDrigue tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sieana Soltero tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Savana Soltero, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Heritage Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Heritage Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their record now sits at 2-0.
Glendale Prep Academy might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Glendale Prep Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
