The Diboll Lumberjacks won the last time they faced the Newton Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Diboll took down Newton 58-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Diboll.
Diboll found their leader in underclassman Tyrece Mcmillan, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malachai Mitchell, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Diboll now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Diboll will take on Huntington at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Diboll focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Newton, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pollok Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Newton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1506th, while Pollok Central is ranked 453rd).
