Baseball Recap: St. Frances Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

St. Frances Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Concordia Prep Saints get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Frances Academy got a great performance from Anthony Mayfield III as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Mayfield III has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Julian Mercer and Dorian Goldston did most of the damage at the plate: Mercer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Goldston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Goldston has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hodges, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

St. Frances Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Concordia Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, St. Frances Academy will venture away from home to face off against Beth Tfiloh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Concordia Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
