Butler is 0-10 against Seneca Valley since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Golden Tornado will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Butler is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Woodland Hills get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Tornado considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Lily Vicari was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaylin Garbinski, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Butler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Seneca Valley put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Canon-McMillan 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Lexie Hames was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
In other batting news, Seneca Valley got a big performance out of Liv Herrem, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Bella Gross was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
Seneca Valley pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Butler, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.
Butler suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Seneca Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Tornado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
