The Palm Desert Aztecs waltzed into their matchup Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against La Quinta by a score of 63-50. Given Palm Desert's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while La Quinta is ranked 1099th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Desert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jecorey Jones, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Kamrynn Nathan was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Palm Desert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for La Quinta, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Palm Desert will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Serrano at 2:00 p.m. on December 26th. La Quinta and Twentynine Palms will round out the year against one another at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at. Twentynine Palms is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
