McEwen dropped down to 5-6 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 56-43 to the Waverly Central Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-34 on December 1st.

As for Waverly Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points over those games.

Waverly Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Corbin Rumsey out in front who posted 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Burns, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

McEwen and Waverly Central will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Warriors see the court they'll take on Dickson County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2026. As for Waverly Central, their break will end when they face Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
