2A/1A Carolina 12 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Carrboro extended the longest winning streak in 2A/1A Carolina 12 this week by beating Granville Central, 59-24. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
South Granville took down Cedar Ridge 48-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kenny Walls ran for 176 yards and caught one passes for five yards in the win.
Matt McCutcheon put up the best numbers through the air as the Vikings topped the Fighting Red Wolves. He finished with a total of five completions for 71 yards and one touchdown. McCutcheon's favorite target this week was Taz Strudwick, who caught two passes for 34 yards.
Josh Coachman was the best wideout in the league this week as the Panthers lost to Carrboro. Coachman racked up 10 receptions for 85 yards. Logan Hill helped Granville Central's passing attack out by catching two balls for 22 yards.
On the ground, South Granville's Sean Bowman has rushed for 1056 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ansar Muhammad. The South Granville star has 25 catches for 410 yards.
One of 2A/1A Carolina 12's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Granville Central and Mike Hobgood's team face off next week. Jay Parker has thrown for 1479 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Strudwick has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of 11.5 sacks.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Vikings take on John Hammett's team. South Granville is in second place, while the Panthers are in fourth place.
There should be lots of points scored when the Vikings and Granville Central face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, South Granville comes in having scored 295 this season, while the Panthers have scored 185. The Vikings scored 48 points last week as they bested Cedar Ridge.
Jason Tudryn's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on Granville Central.
